Press release:

SPA Canada wants to strengthen its mission of education and awareness

(Montreal, May 13, 2019) - The Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) Canada announces that it will adopt new models of governance and funding by the end of the year. Ultimately, these will allow the organization to focus on its mission of promoting respect for animals through education, awareness and citizen mobilization.

"With limited resources, we have done a lot in the recent years in terms of awareness and citizen mobilization," said Dominique Routhier, animal biologist at SPA Canada. "We want our awareness-raising actions to be more effective, stronger and better supervised to reach the maximum impact as possible. This objective inevitably involves better management of our operations and, on a different level, the modernization of our communication tools. "

To support its optimization process, which has been underway for some time now, SPA Canada has surrounded itself with experts in the governance and restructuring of non-profit organizations. Already established under the Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, SPA Canada will comply with expert recommendations and standards that will be required as a result of the restructuring.

SPA Canada is also committed to producing an annual report starting this year. "We are proud of our achievements and we will make sure to present each year the balance sheet and the positive impacts of our actions," concluded Dominique Routhier.
